GEM Achieve 6 million manhours without a Lost Time Incident

Gulf Earth Moving (GEM) have always prided themselves on their excellent safety record and were rewarded in December 2016 by achieving a total of 6 million man-hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI). Tony Classens, GEM Safety Manager explained why this was such an achievement.

“In large scale earthmoving there are many risks and it is one of the most difficult industries to maintain a clean safety record. This achievement was made possible by careful planning, detailed training and continual follow through to ensure that everyone in the business knows and act in a safe manner. Everyone in the team has played a part in helping to achieve this milestone and we will continue to work hard to maintain this standard in the future.”

GEM are very proactive in keeping safety at the for front of the employees thinking and have a monthly safety award given to the person who contributes most to the advancement of safe thinking and practice in the business.
